2019

  • Completed IRB refresher course (38 modules) May 30, 2019 in order to remain compliant with TAMU institutional policies and to be able to conduct scholarly research in my field that involves human subjects.

  • Completed calibration training from the Association of American Colleges and Universities Value Institute to become a “certified scorer” for the written communication rubric. Certified scorers have completed rigorous training and testing to ensure they can score writing samples with inter-rater reliability. Scored over 100 writing samples using the rubric. Summer 2019.

  • Attended workshops conducted by the TAMU Office of the Dean of Faculties regarding the steps required and documentation for the academic professional track. Workshops included “Make a Scrapbook,” which involved creating a Scholars@TAMU profile, identifying authentic quantitative and qualitative indicators of impact, creating a 3-page impact statement for my professional dossier. Also attended “Teaching Strategies Used by Faculty Who Thrive,” including recognizing how your teaching approach influences your preparation time, valuing the role of student-centered approaches that play in teaching success, comprehending how evidence-based strategies enhance learning, and appreciating the importance of pursuing and documenting incremental continuous improvement of your teaching. Summer 2019.

  • Attended faculty workshop “Stop the Sisyphus Syndrome: Designing Writing Assignments for Lower Workload and Better Results,” conducted by the University Writing Center. 22 July 2019.

  • Attended Bush School Distance Ed Panel Discussion “Students’ Paper Missing? Using Technology to Keep Track and Save Time.” 4 November 2019.

  • Participated in revising the AACU Value rubric on Lifelong Learning and received training to become a certified scorer on using the Value rubric for lifelong learning communication (2019). Certified scorers have completed rigorous training and testing to ensure they can score writing samples with inter-rater reliability.
